Inorbit Mall inaugurated in Vizag, to open for public on March 27
Inorbit Mall was inaugurated at Salagramapuram in the city on Monday, marking a major milestone in the city’s retail landscape.
The ceremonial launch of the mall was attended by Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) Chairman M. Angamuthu, K. Raheja Corp president Neel C. Raheja, Inorbit Malls CEO Rajneesh Mahajan, and Visakhapatnam North MLA P. Vishnu Kumar Raju, with the virtual presence of Union Ports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. The mall is scheduled to be opened for public on Friday.
Mr. Sonowal said that the VPA had achieved a strategic milestone in the commercial utilisation of its land.
He emphasised the Centre’s commitment to unlocking the economic potential of land assets held by the major ports.
He revealed that the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) has attracted massive investments, with MoUs signed by it exceeding ₹39,000 crore. This includes a ₹29,662-crore project for Dugarajapatnam Port and Shipbuilding Cluster. Additionally, infrastructure works worth ₹1,390 crore, focusing on berth modernisation, railway electrification, and multi-modal connectivity, are currently underway to bolster the city’s status as a premier logistics hub.
Spanning over 1.4 million sft, the mall project represents a significant partnership between the VPA and K. Raheja Corp said Mr. Angamuthu, adding that the project entails an investment of ₹600 crore in the first phase.
The project has generated direct employment for 3,000 people and indirect opportunities for 10,000 more.
Highlighting that the VPA allotted 16.3 acres of land for the mall project, he said development of the port lands in a public-private partnership (PPP) mode aims at improving living standards of the citizens.
He noted that while the first phase of the project has been completed, the second phase will follow. The facility is dedicated to shopping and entertainment, with no planned office space.
“The VPA is committed to the redevelopment of its hospital and stadium,” Mr. Angamuthu said.
The Inorbit Mall, one of the largest in the State, has been completed in a record 31 months, said Mr. Neel Raheja.
Mr. Mahajan said that ₹300 crore more has been earmarked for the second phase of the mall project, which is expected to be completed within the next year.
The mall features a massive G+4 structure and seven levels of parking. It is set to house 350 national and international brands. It will also have an eight-screen multiplex of AAA (Asian Allu Arjun) Cinemas and five Family Entertainment Centres.
Beyond traditional retail, the mall introduces unique lifestyle features such as a 1.1 KM jogging track, a pet park, and a terrace deck, he said.
